'Our tutor taught Spanish to my son, Eliot, and his best friend, Toby, preparing them both for their Spanish CE. They always loved their tutorials and looked forward to them each week. blt tutors teach young children without them even knowing they are learning - through play, drama, stories, poetry and games. I remember the boys emerging from their tutorials with a big smile on their faces, singing a Spanish song or acting out a Spanish role-play. Both boys got A's in their Spanish CE and were so inspired by their tutor's love of languages that they went on to take GCSE and A Level Spanish and French, at school and with their tutor. Eliot then studied Spanish and Italian at Nottingham University, supported by his tutor, and is now undertaking a PGCE with a view to becoming a Spanish teacher in September. His tutor undoubtedly played an integral part in his academic development and career choice.' (Dr Allen)

We provide comprehensive preparation for ISEB Common Entrance (CE) Levels 1 and 2 French, German and Spanish, helping to facilitate entry into top Independent Schools throughout the UK.

Our tutorials focus on the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, emphasising tailored presentation, targeted practice and personalised feedback, using a bank of proprietary questions and papers, as well as past and specimen papers, to enhance fluency and accuracy, develop vocabulary and grammatical control, build confidence and provide enjoyment and stimulation.

We provide an informal assessment for each tutee at the beginning of their first tutorial. This provides the focus and clarity we need to enable us to target accurately where each tutee needs particular support.

Working through the relevant Common Entrance (CE) specification, our tutorials are also interactive and fun, developing creatively our tutees’ knowledge, time management skills and their ability to respond effectively to the variety of questions types found in French, German and Spanish Common Entrance (CE) papers.

In line with the expressed objectives of ISEB Common Entrance (CE) French, German and Spanish, our tutorials aim to:

  • Develop the skills which will enable our tutees to understand written and spoken French, German or Spanish and to use that language effectively for the purposes of practical communication;

  • Give our tutees opportunities to take part in a broad range of linguistic activities such as those set out in the National Curriculum for French, German and Spanish;

  • Encourage independent learning, including the use of dictionaries, glossaries and ICT;

  • Give our tutees opportunities to work with authentic French, German or Spanish materials;

  • Encourage interest in countries where French, German or Spanish is spoken;

  • Encourage positive attitudes towards speakers of French, German or Spanish.

We tutor in the comfort of your home, online (via Skype, Zoom, Teams or FaceTime), or at the home of one of our specialist Common Entrance (CE) tutors, at a time that is most convenient for you.
